WHO IS MY FRIEND?

Study verse: 1 Samuel 18:1-4

After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. ² From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return home to his family. ³ And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. ⁴ Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt.

Lessons learnt from the text

1. True friends are always united in spirit i.e The Spirit of Christ
2. True friends shows loyalty and doesn’t flee from one another.
3. True friends show commitment to each other
4. True friends always give each other positive assurance
5. True friends always show fulfillment of lasting vows.
6. True friends sincerely love each other. (1 Sam 18;3)
7. True friends will always stick to each other.
8. True friends are ready to give their most expensive gifts to their friends (1 Sam 18:4)

THINGS THAT STAND IN THE WAY OF FRIENDS

1. Jealousy
2. Lack of respect
3. Unforgiving spirit.
